I have been a bit under the weather and not on top of my usual blog topics. So, I decided that for the weekend, I would relax and enjoy blog hopping.
Oh, that reminds me...I have meant to post about how fun it is to play and socialize at Michele's.
I think she has Blog Explosion and the like beat with her fun, interactive blog. She has set up a place for those of us who love games and blog hopping to hang out and meet other friendly, witty and skilled bloggers.
On that note, since I haven't slept well the past couple of nights, I laid awake wondering if playing the game Never Have I Ever would translate well in the Blogosphere.
Well, I'm willing to give it a try, care to join me?
If you haven't played the game before, here is how it goes:
Someone makes a statement describing something they have never done...can be as simple as "I've never been to NYC."
Can be as crazy as "I've never climbed a water tower in the nude and sang at the top of my lungs- 'Sweet Home Alabama'.
Everyone else says whether they have done it or not.
Typically, you begin by holding up three fingers, if you have done the deed, you put a finger down, the person who goes out first (all fingers down) wins...or loses, how ever it is being played.
This is how I thought it could be done here:
I'll start with my "Never have I ever"...if you HAVE done it, tell us about it in the comments (yes, DETAILS!!)
If you have NOT....smirk, snicker and then list your "Never have I Ever" statement.
We will play according to the latest statement posted in the comments.
(If these rules don't work, I'll revamp them)
So, grab your green tea, or green beer, and let me know what crazy deed you have...ummm, I mean, haven't done! (Happy St. Patrick's Day!)
Never have I ever...passed out from drinking too much.
Here's the thing about me. I am addicted to collect decks of cards. All kinds of cards. I'm always on the look out for games with cards, unique decks and different types of cards.
Yep, cards and maps...thats all I need.
So, today I decided to draw from a new deck for me: SARK'S Creative Dream Game Cards.
(My scanner isn't working right now, when it is I will post a pic of the card I drew)
My card selection front says: "Permission - what if we all walked around letting loose the wonders inside of us?" (wow, what a concept!)
The back says: Napping - people who nap are often more creatively awake. Napping can set the stage for more creative dreaming.
When napping, we are in a state of allowing-which directly feeds creative dreams.
If you enjoy napping, do you do it as often as you would like?
Do you view napping as "unproductive"?
If you are a napper (and I think all creatives should be nappers!) how does it help you?
I love napping. I can lay down for a short snooze when I'm feeling blocked or bored and after 30 minutes, wake up with an idea.
Actually *yawn* I'm feeling a bit tired right now...I only got about 3 hours of sleep last night and instead of dragging my tail and doing things half-buttocks today...I'm gonna go snooze.
Then when I wake up...I'm going to spend the rest of the day letting loose the wonders inside of me....how bout you?
Today, we are going to let our noses lead us to something special.
Begin outside your front door.
Walk in and close your eyes. Is there a scent of any kind that hits you?
If so, what is it? Where is it coming from?
Scent is a powerful sense, it has the potential to evoke lost memories and activate frozen emotions. (which is why Aromatherapy is such a great tool in healing....more on that later)
Does the scent you caught activate a memory or evoke anything within you?
How often do we stop and let our thoughts linger on what a scent reminds us of?
Here is mine:
As much as I hate to admit this, what hit me was...ummm...well, my cat's litter box. Not pleasent at all! Typically, its not an issue thanks to great cat food and great litter and a way of cleaning it each day. But, today, the window above the box was open, it is humid and we had to change the cat food due to running out and not being able to buy what we typically buy.
Hence....a more powerful box odor.
But, it took me to a memory.
When I was young, we went to California to visit relatives. It was my mom's Aunt and Uncle in Palm Springs.
I was in love with what I saw in Cailfornia. It was all very new to me. My mom's Aunt had homemade wine and I got to taste it. We sat out on her porch at night and it seemed so beautiful to me.
I swam in her pool and loved using her house as a make-believe setting for some imaginary adventure.
They had a huge beautiful yard with all kinds of plants and flowers that I had never seen before and lamps lit the walkway. That was also new for me.
While the adults sat and talked on the porch, I would run in and out of the walkway lamps feeling very magical under the nightime sky.
Now, where does the litter box smell come in?
She had one bathroom that was seldom used by anyone and is where she kept the litter box.
I had to use that bathroom in the middle of the night because of where they had set up a bed for me.
I recall the odor because my cats at home were outdoor cats and I had never been around a litter box before.
The litter box odor became attached to the thrill and excitement I felt on that trip to Cailfornia.
Using a specific scent while in your creative mode can be a great inducer for emotions and memories.
It is easy enough these days with scented candles, essential oils and other aromatherapy products.
Keepng a scent journal is something I recently started doing, as I now keep a scented candle on my bedside table and have seen a difference in how I sleep and what I dream according to the scent.
What was your scent? Where did it lead you? Do you use scent when creating?
Tell us about it!

And...have a LOVELY day!
Yesterday was my off to play day. It was glorious weather wise, so I headed out with the top down. Took a scenic cruise and soaked in the blue sky and sunshine!
Jonquils and crocus's were popping out everywhere!
I stopped for lunch at a cafe that has an outdoor area. This place has the most fabulous dishes and I swear, the perfect french frie! Really, never have I had a french frie that succulent...perfectly crispy on the outside and melt in your mouth soft on the inside and just the right flavoring.
I then walked over to a Boutique I love shopping at. Mainly because this shop is eye candy overload. It is solid, no- bare -spot- in- the- place clothing, jewelery and accessories of the S.Asian and NA variety.
It's actually hard to shop there, simply because when you do walk in, there is so much that you get overwhelmed and can't figure out where to begin. I spotted the only bare area which was a 6 inch by 3 inch square on the check out counter in order to make your purchases. The counter is so stacked with merchandise that you can't even see the cashier behind there!
But, one thing it does is appeal to my love of color and textures. I get very inspired in there. (They wouldn't let me take a picture though)
After running a few errands, I went to Sonic and had one of those Jr. Sundae's (you know, with care- a-mell and choco- late)
Back home, a little snooze, then I watched a movie I love- Garden State.
It was refreshing, simple and sweet.
Ah, it's FRIDAY! And, so far, I am looking at a very blue sky and so far, no march madness wind! I think the temps are to be decent, so I am jazzed!
I find that I have to take at least a day each week to go out and about and re-charge my creative juices.
My muses always wake me jumping up and down on the end of my bed, tumbling and exploding in glee. It's their chance to show me stuff!
I'm not sure yet just what I will do today, but as soon as I do, I will be sure to come back and post.
But, what about you? How do you re-charge your creative juices? Do you take a "time-out" or have a ritual of some kind that allows to you to be inspired and to get all giddy with ideas?
My hope is that we can share our artist dates...they themselves can be varied and creative.
Sometimes, I go to a gallery to see whats new, or for a walk armed with my digi, or people watching at a cute street cafe. Or I might decide to go Letterboxing (it fills my obsession with treasure maps!)
But, for now, I'm off to the shower...I have plans to make!
